A written description of the adventure
(The story of the adventure)
West-Coast Island Adventures is a blog about outdoor adventure on Vancouver Island. All the blog posts are a first hand travelling experience to figure out how to get to the location and the area to get photo’s and notes, collecting as much information as possible to write the blog posts and create accurate and safe content all while trying not to give to much away or take away form the experience of the adventure.
The posts are broken up into different sections. At the top, is the overview. In the middle, is the location / directions. And at the bottom, the story. Photos are placed throughout the sections. These sections allow readers to get the information they need without reading the entire post or even skip sections if they want more of an adventure (ie. only using the overview and directions while skipping the story).
Above all West-Coast Island Adventures is about safety. Knowing where you’re going, how to get there, what to expect along the way, and what may be need on the trip. Readers can evaluate for themselves and prepare accordingly, or just simply enjoy the photo’s and the story if a particular adventure is out of their league.

About the writer
Mark L. Dobbs – creator & writer.

Hi my name is Mark, I’m a Vancouver Island born and raised local. Currently, I reside in Nanaimo BC, but grew up in the Comox Valley. The Valley was a great jumping off point for Strathcona park, where my father would take me hiking, camping, and backpacking as a child. As I got older I also became interested and involved in snowboarding, mountain biking, 4X4ing, surfing, motorcycling, boating, backcountry snowboarding / touring, stand-up paddle boarding, and anything at all to do with to do seeking out a new adventure.
Over the last few years I have discovered my passion for photography and story telling, which laid the ground for what would become this blog! The blog has allowed me to combine my love for writing, and researching with all the adventure sports, activities, and hobby’s in one place and share them with you, the reader.
I was given the idea to create the blog when people kept asking me where I had been and how they could get there themselves. With so many hobbies, I was getting asked often, resulting in West-Coast Island Adventures. The blog has become my passion project I work on between my full-time job and parenting. With the time that I do have I write posts on some of the places I’ve been. That being said, with so many places and different activities I’ve really only scratched the surface of what I’ve been doing, where I’ve been going, and how you can get there or follow along!
